Friday Night Uphill Series

By popular demand, our Friday Night Uphill series is coming #BackTOBlack for 2023

Friday Night Uphill is BACK!!!!

   Our Friday Night Uphill Series has come #BackTOBlack.

 

     Our weekly series kicks off at 5:00 and runs until 8:00.  All Participants can sign up in the base lodge between 4:30-7:15 where they will fill out a waiver, and pay for their ticket.  Although the event is free for Black Mountain Passholders, passholders must still fill out a waiver and register for the event each week to be entered into our weekly drawings.

     Our friends at Gorham Bike and Ski have a full fleet of DPS Demo skis, AND Jones Splitboards if you don't have your own set up yet.  Fill out the form below and one of their team members will contact you to set you up with a pair of DPS demos.

 

     Everyone's favorite Tots Coach, Maeve, will be up at the LOSTBO Cabin, serving cold beverages, and the LOSTBO Pub will be open in the base lodge.

 

     We will have a few of our Ski School Coaches available to help coach any rookies on their way up.

     So, tell your friends, spread the word and get ready for the return of our Friday Night Uphill Series at Black Mountain, in beautiful Jackson, NH!

1 / How much does it cost?

  • Weekly registration is $15 per person.

  • Free for Passholders

  • All participants (even passholders) must register with the ticket office each week so we know who is on the hill, and so we can put your name in our weekly drawings.

2 / Do you have onsite rentals for uphill?
  • No, Black Mountain does not rent uphill equipment.  We have partnered with Gorham Bike & Ski in North Conway, NH to provide DPS rentals for those who do not own an uphill set up yet.

  • You must pick up your rentals from Gorham Bike & Ski at their North Conway Location.  There will be NO UPHILL RENTALS on site.

3 / What Equipment Do I Need to Participate?
  • All guests participating in our Friday Night Uphill Series must have a headlamp.  

  • All guests must have alpine touring equipment (skis or splitboard) - No snowshoes or hiking is allowed.

  • We recommend that you carry a small backpack with you to carry extra clothing, a change of gloves and water.

4 / Do I need to have experience?
  • You must know how to ski or snowboard to participate in this series.

  • You do not need uphill experience, but downhill experience is a must.

  • You will be skiing or riding down a mountain in the dark, with nothing to light your way, but a headlamp. 

  • This is not an event for Never-Evers.  You must have the ability to ski beginner and intermediate terrain to particpate in this series.

6 / Is there timing?  /  Is this a race series?
  • NO.  This is NOT a race series.

  • NO.  There is NO TIMING.

  • Our staff will try to map the route on Strava each week, so you can track your progress and pace; but this is NOT A RACE. 

  • We are here to have fun and build our community in a family friendly format, where we support each other, not compete with each other.

7 / What is the Route?
  • There will be separate uphill and downhill routes, clearly marked with lanterns hanging on poles.

  • The Uphill Route will change each week, so make sure to check in at registration.

  • ALL OTHER AREAS OF THE MOUNTAIN SHOULD BE CONSIDERED CLOSED, AND ARE OUT OF BOUNDS DURING THE EVENT.

8 / What is the weekly timeline?
  • Course Set-up = 3:30 to 4:30

  • Kids Lap, turn on the lights = 4:30 - 5:30

    • Join us with your kids for a lap with our Black Sheep Coaches

  • Registration = 4:30 - 7:15

  • Lostbo Cabin is Open = 5:00 - 7:45

  • Course is Open = 5:00 - 8:00

  • Lostbo Pub is open = 11:00 am - 9:00 pm

    • Live Music from 3:30 - 5:30

    • $5 Moat Drafts from 5:00 - 8:00

  • 7:00 = Pizza arrives

  • 7:30 = Door Prize Drawings

  • 7:45 = Last call at the Lostbo cabin.

  • 8:00 = Lock the Cabin & Rip the course

  • 8:30 = Last Call in the Lostbo Pub

  • 9:00 = Doors are locked, the parking lot empty.

9 / Why no BYOB?
  • Due to New Hampshire's food and beverage laws, no outside food or beverages are allowed in the lodge, the LOSTBO Pub, or the LOSTBO Cabin, this includes all decks, trails, parking lots and grounds owned and operated by Black Mountain.

  • Failure to follow these laws and rules puts the mountain's liquor license at risk.

  • Black Mountain reserves the right to ban for life, any guest who fails to follow NH's Liquor Laws.
