Hello Black Mountain Family,
I have 5 important updates.
1) We have more open terrain than the mountain has seen in years, and I expect that 100% of our terrain will be open by Monday, including our double black diamond options from the summit. We missed the rain this week, and picked up an extra 6 inches of fresh snow. There is now over 16 inches of new snow forecasted for this weekend. Our commitment to snowmaking and trail work is paying off. The skiing and riding will be as good as it has been in decades. I hope you can find a way to be here.
2) Black Mountain will be open 7 days a week through Monday February 24th, when we will return to a 5 day a week schedule. We will run the summit double, the triple, the platter and our new beginner area handle tow each and every day. We will also be operating the J-Bar both weekends, which remains the oldest overhead lift in the country. We are very proud to be making snow and grooming the J-Bar area, keeping this important piece of skiing history alive. Plus, we will also continue our FREE night skiing on the handle tow from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday (2/14), Saturday (2/15), and Sunday (2/16) this week, and Friday (2/21) and Saturday (2/22) next week!
3) The Alpine Cabin continues to set records each weekend. We are doing our best to keep the fondue and champagne in stock up there. We have live music for Friday Night Lights and every Saturday on the deck from 1-4. We are not done transforming the Cabin into one of the best on hill spots in skiing. You can expect more evening events and incredible spring parties soon enough.
4) We have finished renovating the remainder of the base lodge and the boot up room is now open to the public. With that we have launched our seasonal locker rentals, which are extremely limited and available for purchase online, first come first serve.
5) Black Mountain's transition to a CO-OP ownership model is progressing and remains on track for a spring offering. Remember that 24/25 season passholders receive priority before shares become available to the general public. The last day to buy a Black Mountain season pass is this coming Monday, February 17th. If you or anyone that you know are interested in owning a part of Black, please make sure you have registered online.
We are not taking our foot off the gas. Thanks for being here.
