Letter From the GM – Open Top to Bottom for Thanksgiving

Unless you have been on a tropical island with no internet for the last two weeks, you likely know that we kicked off our 91st season with our earliest opening ever on November 15th, winning the race to be the first to open in New Hampshire. An incredible accomplishment for this small and dedicated team. It was a great day of skiing from the summit to the mid-station, followed by a great party at the base lodge.

We have kept our foot on the gas and have taken advantage of every single snowmaking opportunity, no matter how short. That effort has paid off. We are charging forward with top-to-bottom skiing starting on Thanksgiving Day. Lifts will run from 10-2. Live music at the base starts at 11. Lift tickets will be priced at just $25. The hill will be groomed. Come and make some turns with us while the turkey is in the oven.

The lifts will continue to spin Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9-4 each day. Live music across the board at the base lodge, and we are starting to fire up more food options as our kitchen gets completed. Our open food policy remains unchanged. You are welcome to brown bag any time and any place at Black Mountain. Heck, bring your crockpot, and I will find a place to plug it in for you. Culture matters here.

Uphill is a big piece of our DNA at Black Mountain, and we will open an early-season uphill route to the mid-station on Thanksgiving through the weekend. Expect our first Friday Night Lights on December 5th. Next week, we fire up snowmaking for a dedicated uphill route on the east side of the mountain. The summit will quickly follow.

I will soon be providing a full update on our conflict with the Town of Jackson Select Board and Police Department. Know that every employee at Black Mountain appreciates the outpouring of support.

All lift and pass products are now online and available for sale. Downhill and Uphill season passes will soon go off sale. Seasonal programs are almost full. The lodge is starting to come together. Snowmaking will be at full throttle whenever temperatures allow.  We are skiing top-to-bottom on Thanksgiving.

We have so much to be thankful for.

Thanks for being here.

Eggy Car Game rewards patience and control. It’s not about speed but about mastering the art of balance. Every victory feels well-earned when you finally make it past a tricky hill.

I was checking the weather and accidentally tapped Block Blast instead of the forecast. I stayed there anyway because the board looked more exciting than another rainy day.
