If you have been following the comeback story that Black Mountain has become, our latest video is a must-watch. Follow along as I run down the Top Ten biggest improvements across the mountain for this coming season. Everyone can look forward to dramatic changes, including a significant terrain expansion to the true summit of Black Mountain for the first time ever.
These changes will vastly improve the experience at Black Mountain, all while always respecting and preserving the history and culture of New Hampshire’s oldest ski area.
Top Ten Improvements (actually 11 now): 11. New F&B facilities, full breakfast, and added sit-down dinner service. 10. New and expanded decks on the Main Loge, Alpine Cabin, and Double Lift. 9. Expanded overall parking capacity by 30%. 8. Reimagined beginner terrain at Platter Pull, with full snowmaking and trail work. 7. 75+ snows on the new Black Mountain Glacier late-season project. 6. 28,000 feet of new snowmaking pipe across the entire mountain. 5. Complete lower main lodge renovations featuring new retail and rental spaces. 4. Doubled the Alpine Cabin outdoor space, extended the roof, more Champagne. 3. Refurbished the Double Chair and Platter Pull capacity increased by 30%. 2. Sugarbush trail rebuild with snowmaking and a true beginner entrance. 1. Growing the mountain and adding to our vertical drop with a new summit expert zone featuring new trails: "Backout", "Blackout", and "Champagne Problems".
If you were thinking about joining us by purchasing tickets or passes, now is the time. We will be cutting off season pass sales soon. Day tickets are now available for purchase online and will be limited, with a max capacity set for each operating day. The earlier you buy, the more you save, and we expect to sell out of tickets on our 15 busiest days this season. We will not overcrowd Black Mountain.
Looking forward to this weekend, our snowmaking team continues to charge hard, and our intermediate route from the summit will open on Friday. The famous Platter Lift will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday at 12 pm for our new Ninow beginner trail. We are just about ready to connect the west side of the mountain to the base area. You may find more surprise openings before the weekend ends, including natural terrain.
We are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9-4. Friday Night Lights is on, and fondue is back at the Alpine Cabin. On December 18th, we will open 7 days a week through January 5th. I will soon be in touch with what is a remarkable set of special events we are putting on over the holiday period. This will be Black Mountain’s best Christmas ever.
I am going out on a limb and stating that we will have 100% of snowmaking terrain open by Christmas Day. In its 91 years, Black Mountain has never seen anything like this. Those of you who are riding our Summit Double Chair this weekend are in for a front-row seat to my latest snowmaking project. We are going big with an iconic Double Black Diamond showcase trail directly under the historic summit double.
