On this beautiful Christmas day, we wanted you to unwrap the gift of our holiday week operating plan, which includes more than doubling our open terrain, operating all of our lifts, and hosting some fantastic events, including fireworks on New Year's Eve. With lots of sun forecasted, great snow, and uncrowded slopes, this is the week to come and visit Black Mountain and be part of this success story.
Right now, we are busy pushing out snowmaking stockpiles across the mountain. We expect the east side of the mountain, including the triple chair, to be open late in the day on December 26. This would include 3 additional green trails that will form another complete green route from the top of the triple chair to the base area. We are also adding Ninow and Twilight off of the popular plater lift.
Next to open is Upper Black Beauty, which will give us intermediate terrain and a second route from the summit. It has been decades since there were two routes open from the summit for the holiday week.
We will operate every lift. The summit double to the top with a midway unload option is a New England Classic. Our triple chair is a perfect option for accessing the east side of the mountain with uncrowded cruising options. The historic J-Bar on Whitney's Hill will also run for a few hours each day. Come and see why this lift has been around for almost 90 years. Our platter pull is a favorite with kids and adults with two green routes from the top.
Our new learning area and handle tow have been extremely popular with our guests who are learning to ski and ride. This area will be open every night till 7pm for the kids to enjoy while parents partake in a beverage at our new bar. If you need lessons—whether you're new to the sport or just hoping to polish your technique—we offer programs every day.
Uphill travel is now available on our opening route to the Alpine Cabin, and we will soon switch to the collection of trails on the east side of the mountain, ultimately bringing you to the Alpine Cabin and then summit if you so choose.
And speaking of the Alpine Cabin, don't miss our newly redesigned space, featuring hot fondue, bubbly champagne, and an ever-changing roster of craft brews. Back down at the base lodge, you'll discover a completely revamped kitchen and galley, along with a bar that's been tripled in size—perfect for enjoying pizza, wings, hearty chili, and our daily blue plate special like meatloaf and lasagna.
We're also excited to kick off our Friday Night Lights series on December 27, complete with live music performances both at the base lodge and up at the Alpine Cabin. Come join us as we celebrate, and mark your calendar for these additional happenings:
December 26 – Live music by Candie Tremblay
December 27 – The 24/25 Season Launch of Friday Night Lights, featuring live music by Scott Bear at the base and Finn Van Rossum at the Alpine Cabin
December 28 – Live music by Scott Bear
December 29 – Live music by Rafe Montregrano
December 31 – New Year's Eve bash with live music, the world's first uphill and downhill torchlight parade, an 8:00 pm fireworks show, plus food & drink specials
Night Skiing – Rope tow action every evening from December 26 through January 1st
On December 21, we hosted our follow-up community meeting, once again filling the lodge to capacity. We shared the remarkable progress made over our first 75 days, discussed our vision for the mountain's future, and unveiled preliminary details about our Co-op plans.
