Letter From The GM - Our Second Season Starts Now

Updated: Apr 23

Having just completed an incredible 48-hour snowmaking run, we have now made snow for 6 consecutive months at Black Mountain. We focused a ton of our firepower on the end-of-season uphill route this time around, likely cementing our ability to become the last operating area with an uphill route in New England. We also continued to deepen the Black Mountain Glacier, pushing base depths in some areas to over 40 feet. Compared to mid-winter rates, power is relatively cheap this time of year, and we will continue to make snow at ev

ery opportunity. While those opportunities do get smaller and smaller, our 3-person snowmaking team is as nimble and dedicated as they come. There is no doubt that we will be skiing deep into the spring this year. If given the opportunity, we will make snow on Black Mountain in May.

Our operating schedule has now shifted to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in April, apart from the 20th to the 26th, where we will be open every day for Spring Break. Lifts will spin till 7 pm on Saturdays as we bring back our sunset skiing and Après at the Alpine Cabin.

Amazingly, this weekend we will still have 100% of our snowmaking terrain open, providing trails of every ability level. Friday Night Lights is still going strong, with Scott Baer at the cabin and Cold Engines jamming at the base till late. Saturday's live music will start at 2pm and continue all the way through 8pm. Our main show, and fan favorite - The Pub Pirates - will start at 5pm. Our famous Alpine Cabin DJ set now starts at 3 pm with the Summit Double uploading and downloading till 7PM on Saturday for sunset skiing.

Our season pass sale is somehow exceeding expectations, with just renewals having already surpassed last year’s total sale amount. Our folks on the waitlist have until midnight tonight, to complete their purchase, when any remaining inventory across all pass types will be released to the general public on our e-store. Three out of our seven pass types are nearly sold out for the 26/27 season.

As we move deeper into spring, we also start to look at day ticket pricing. There is no way around it - skiing and snowboarding are expensive sports. However, our late-season operations provide us with an opportunity to make the sport more affordable. We no longer must hold mid-winter or holiday week pricing. Starting Friday, April 10, adult lift tickets are $49. Show us a season pass from another mountain, and the price goes down to $39. Have an Indy Pass and have used up all your days? Add as many as you want for $29 a day, including for your friends. 25/26 Black Mountain Passholders can access buddy tickets for just $19 a day. If you got off the waitlist and secured a 26/27 pass for next season, ski this season for just $9 a day. Saturdays, the lifts will spin till 7 PM for our sunset skiing sessions and anyone can buy a lift ticket for just $15 that is valid starting at 4 PM. I know spring brings lots of other activities that start to take up your time, but we are making it easy and affordable to hold on to ski season during our second season.

A huge part of spring skiing is events and vibrant celebrations, especially at Black Mountain. We have put together a non-stop spring event schedule that is by far and away the most exciting lineup this mountain has ever seen. April brings an 80's weekend, Champagne Fest, pond skims, a legendary uphill / downhill race, and headliner music performances on a new outdoor stage. May keeps it going with events and lifts spinning for as long as possible, including some serious Spring Fling Weekend shenanigans, Reggae Fest, a 70’s weekend featuring Motor Booty Affair, and lots of skiing in shorts and swimsuits. Memorial Day Weekend brings more headliners, fireworks, and the biggest party this place has ever seen.

Yes, I believe that we will have lift-served skiing through Memorial Day. This little mountain is nowhere done with ski season.

Thanks for being here.
